Advanced Engineering Solutions was engaged by the PanAfrican Energy to carry out a study, Design and supervision for a suitable rejuvenation remedial work to be carried out at the Songosongo runway so as to ensure that the runway is complying with the requirements of ICAO as well as the aviation regulation as set out by TCRA which is an organ which is monitoring he aviation industry in Tanzania.

The runway was 1,050 m long x 18.50m wide.

Narrative Description of Project: the project provides for the rehabilitation of the existing 2460 m runway and extension of the runway by 560 m extending it to the total length of 3200 m. The pavement width to be upgraded to 60 m comprising 45 m of the carriageway and 15 m of shoulder rehabilitation involved placing 60 mm of binder course and 40 mm of wearing course. The airport is upgraded to conform to code 4E in line with ICAO requirements.

Narrative Description of Project: the project provides for new construction/upgrading/rehabilitation of the existing runway by placing 250 mm of the bituminous bound base, 120 mm of binder course and 45 mm of marshal asphalt wearing course. The airport is being upgraded from gravel to bituminous pavement and will be upgraded to CODE 3E in line with ICAO standards. The width of the airport pavement is 30 m. In addition to that, the project also involves the construction of the new terminal building, construction of a new apron, construction of subsoil drainage, and provision of electrometrical and mechanical components/art in the terminal building.

• Measure or verify quantities of completed work and prepare monthly interim payment valuations, based on provisional quantities for progress payment approval by TAA.
• Provide continuous liaison with TAA or its appointed representative
• Documentation of site reports/activities
• Record all claims and submit timely recommendations thereon for consideration by TAA
• Management of ESMP in coordination with NEMC and all relevant parties
• Ensure regular and effective reporting and information sharing with TAA
• Check and compile as built drawings prepared by the Contractor
