Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

Singida Urban – llongero – Haydom Road (93.3km) starts at Njuki along Singida –Nzega Trunk Road about 3km from Singida town towards Nzega and branch to right, passing through various Villages including Ntipa, Ntonge, llongero, Kijota, Mtinko, Mudida, Singa, Nkungi, Kidarafa and ends at Haydom at the junction to Katesh/Dongobesh in Manyara Region. 81.5 km are in the Singida region while the remaining 11.8 km are in the Manyara region. The road crossing several major bridges most of them were constructed recently.

The first 9.3km of the road from Njuki towards llongero is paved. The remaining 84 km are currently engineering gravel roads of width varying from 5m to 6m in fair/good condition it is passable with difficulties during the rainy seasons and has intermittent traffic throughout the day in which cruising speed range from 50 to 70kmph when getting full gravel maintenance. The traffic on this road is suppressed due to the poor condition of the road at times. However, it is expected that the traffic will be generated after upgrading it to bitumen. The road geometry is good to fair with some gentle curves and steep profile at some locations which makes the existing road alignment unsafe for high speed.
